collaborations

collaborative poetry

I met Amanda Maret Scharf at Ohio State, where we both served as editors for The Journal. Our collaboration began during a midwestern power outage in July 2022. It was hot, our dogs were panting, and we wrote fast. We considered our friendship, our own experiences with queer love, and our relationship to place. We co-wrote each poem through a series of one-line responses to one another.

Our chapbook, forthcoming from Finishing Line Press, is titled Metal House of Cards. Find individual poems published or forthcoming in Bear Review, SWWIM Every Day, Dialogist, Hooligan Magazine, Bear Review, and the Beaver Magazine Anthology Bodies: Preservation of Land. “Bust” Musical collaboration

Electronic musical artist Arswain (aka my dear, dear friend Freddy Avis) and I collaborated on lyrics for the song “Bust,” featured in his sophomore album Lick From the Sink. These lyrics were adapted from my short story, also titled “Bust,” which won the 2023 Terrain.org Fiction Award.
